Hello to all the lovely people who look at this blog! Considering I didn't have time to post last Tuesday or Saturday, I made today's post an extra special one. With the help of my lovely model Miranda, I created the winter version of Fall/Winter Finds pt. 1&2 and the American version of The London Winter Lookbook. We made up a little look book that one could reference in times of holiday parties, or even just times when one would want to add a little sparkle to their day.
For the first outfit we put on Miranda, I wanted to go back in time (in a sense). For this outfit we used all vintage items (minus the shoes) to show people that you do not need brand new clothes to look dressed up. We paired a pair of vintage light blue highwaisted Calvin Klein jeans (courtesy of my mother's closet) with a vintage pink sheer shirt courtesy of the amazing vintage shop Psychic Sister in Washington. This store is one of the cutest and most well organized vintage shops that I've ever been in and if you are ever in Washington, make sure to stop in and say FPWL sent you! Anyways, for the shoes we took the always classic black heels from BCBG to add a classy finish to the outfit.
For the next outfit, we decided to go back into the archives of the FPWL posts and create a whole new look out of already seen items. We paired the black jumpsuit from From Paloma with Halloween with the yellow peacoat from A Yellow Brick Road Peacoat to create a willowy and smooth 20's look. To add a little jazz to the outfit we decided to pair a dark blue turban (also from Psychic Sisters) to complete the look. The turban is normally known as a religious piece but it has also played a role in fashion for many centuries. It was first introduced into the western culture in the 17th century and since then it has been worn as a a symbol of glamour as well as being a good way of keeping your hair in place. These turbans have been unknowingly been used in fashion for many years and one of the earliest examples of the turban in western culture would be the painting Girl With a Pearl Earring. It was for this reason that I wanted to use a turban in my post today, to show most of the world that the turban isn't only a religious item, but also a symbol of glamour in fashion.
For the third outfit of today's post, Miranda and I went back into the depths of my mother's closet to create this lovely outfit. We decided to pair together two very different pieces that worked surprisingly well together: a button-up leather skirt and a cropped patterned button up (both courtesy of my mother's 70's fashion). For the shoes we added bright red heels with ankle straps (thank you Reilly) and to add another littke quirk we added a burgundy hat from American Eagle.
And finally, for the fourth and final outfit for today's post, we decided to have a little foreign fun and take this outfit straight out of the amazing city of Paris. A year from now, both Miranda and I will be traveling to Paris and with all that excitement within us, we just had to incorporate a little je ne sais quoi. Ironically enough, many of the pieces in this outfit were actually purchased in Paris when I visited two summers ago. The outfit consisted of my aunt's Louis Vuitton shoes (purchased from Parrrrriss), a Charlotte Russe top, a Free People leather jacket, and bright red Zara pants (Paris Paris Paris). With a slicked back ponytail and a nice red lip, it was hard not to imagine Miranda walking down the Champs-Élysées.
So with that, my lovely readers, I am saying au revoir until next Saturday.
Je t'aime.
xoxo, Paloma
