School-ifying Your Room

It's a Tuesday night and my much loved summer has come to an end. Although you guys probably don't start school for a couple weeks, I go back to school tomorrow. Summer was amazing but I do look forward to what this school year brings. Considering by this time tomorrow I will be plenty busy with school and homework, I decided to make today's post about something other than my outfit; school. I've watched many videos on YouTube on how to transition your room from summer to fall, but I haven't seen any on how to transition your room from summer to school. Although it doesn't sound like something that's needed, it's actually been proven that a clean, organized room can boost school grades. So to make sure you all excel at school this year, I came up with some ways to simplify your room and your life.
To start with: your desk. Whether you use a simple table or a decadent structure as your homework base, it's important that is is clean, organized, and colorful (that is, unless you hate colors). I personally use an art table from Ikea, so that's what I'll "simplify". I think it's important to have a lot of space around you when you're doing homework or projects, so I keep all of my desk decorations at the top of my table, leaving me ample room. To decorate my desk, and "Paloma-fy" it, I used this seaweed lamp from Ikea, a few cork boards, some decorative frames, and some cute tokens. All these combined help my desk look calm and collected with a hint of all things paloma.

Next, the bookcase (or where ever you put your books). I like to organize my bookcase in chronological order to make the most use out of it. At the moment, all my books from last school year are on the top shelf, the ones I read for fun on the second, and my favorite magazines and yearbooks on the bottom. Obviously this will be swapped around once I get books for this year, and last years books will go in a box under my bed. (Side note: always keep your school books because you never know when you'll need them again).

Then, the vanity. This could also be called a desk, but I personally use it to do my makeup and store my hair products (along with other things that I can't find a home for). To organize this lovely piece of furniture, I got a lot of little boxes and items that can hold my jewelry. For my makeup,  I got this case thing from Target, and my jewelry box I got from my mother. On the sides I used two old-fashioned coke bottles to hold my earrings and a tiger mask from San Fransisco. My sunglasses are all out on display and rest on top of my journal. To finish with my vanity, I have my alarm clock/charger/radio/speaker set that I got off of Ebay. Since I do my makeup here, I like it to be as bright and happy as possible.

My bed is basically just a bed, so we won't dwell on that, but to organize my closet for the school year, I have a few simple tricks. First, go through your closet and get rid of anything you haven't worn in over a year (unless it has sentimental value). From there, I'd recommend hanging all your sweaters and jackets in the front, with all your shirts and dresses behind them. Basically just put the stuff you wear the most in the front and the stuff you don't really wear-yet-can't-get-rid-off in the back. I'd also recommend putting a nail in the wall (or a little hanger thing) next to your closet so that you can hang your outfit up there the night before school.

I hope this little things helped you prepare your room for school, or at least inspire you! I've gotten some good advice from an anon and if you have any feedback for me as well please let me know! I'm going to still post outfits but I want to try to delve into other fields of blogging. Just to clarify the point of this blog isn't changing! I'm still here to give you fashiony things but I also don't just want to be known as the girl who posts pictures of her outfits :) Also, shoutout to Chantel for the great blog makeover! If any of you want to hear more about that, check out my last post!
P.S. On the subject of posts, I will not be able to post Friday, but I'll be back again next Tuesday!
