Flea Market Finds with only $20

I know I was M.I.A on Friday, but as I had previously told you all, I was unable to post. But I am back again with a guide on how to shop a flea market with only $20.
On Sunday, Delilah and I, went to the Fairfax Flea Market (located at Fairfax HS) in Los Angeles. Although it is incredibly fun to buy what you want when you go to flea markets, I only carried 20 dollars with me and I was on a mission: to see what 20 dollars can buy you at a flea market.
My journey began with Delilah and me scouring the place for the coolest-yet relatively cheapest- stuff. While walking around in the intense heat and taking, what could only be described as "classic teenage girl" pictures, we discovered there was more than what meets the eye.
We had both assumed that by going to this flea market we would see a mixture of old-yet modern-items along with ratty stuff that no one would buy. Surprisingly enough, that was far from it. Considering the market stretched across the entire highschool, there were endless amounts of booths. Even more surprising, was that all of these booths fell under three categories: first, high-waisted shorts and vintage clothes, second, furniture (the majority of which was painted turquoise blue, and third, jewelry and artwork. Needless to say there was plenty of things to sift through on my quest.
You know how when you have a limited amount of money, you second guess your purchases? Well that's exactly what happens when you are presented with the coolest stuff and you only have $20. It's really all about self-control to be honest. You can either mope about how you can't afford all the stuff you want, or you can be grateful that you have what you have. So basically I got over the moping stage and realized that $20 was more than enough to find what my heart desired! I even ended up having two dollars to spare!
So now that all that mumbling and jumbling is done, I bet that you are all curious about what I did end up getting....*DRUMROLL PLEASE*
A turquoise and silver ring andddddd high waisted shorts! Although they probably weren't the most amazing things there, they were by far my favorite! Oh and I almost forgot! I forgot to take a picture of my back to school outfit so I decided to wear it again on Sunday! My back to school outfit consisted of a dress from LF (only $48 dollars), and my black hightop converse. I was going to originally wear my Brandy dress but at the last minute I decided to change!
I guess the whole point of this post is to give you all an example of how to shop with limited money. Although I'm not sure if I got the point across, I'm going to give you all three steps that I probably should've mentioned earlier:
1) Know how much money you have or how much you want to spend (self-control people).
2) Don't buy anything the first time you see it (often you'll see something you like, buy it, then see something else that you want right after).
3) Always be happy with what you have (going around moping about what you don't have will get you nowhere, always focus on the good).
-oh and I don't have any pictures of my shorts and my ring because my camera died but you will be seeing them soon-
Until Friday

  1. What's LF?
    Be confident in your advice.
It's irritating that you don't post pics of what your leading up to and the whole post is about.
    Just friendly advice!(:

    1. First off, LF is a store in California and I think New York. And second, yeah I know I agree that was probably pretty irritating so I'll be sure to not do that again! Thanks for the advice though :)

  2. I have to say, I disagree with the previous comment. I didn't know you could buy so much from a flea market for just $20! Paloma, you have opened my eyes to the possibilities, thanks! I really liked the photos (especially of the shoes) and I loved how you put a twist on your outfit for the day, by showing it in the reflection of the mirror.
