Happy Friday to everyone! I hope you all had a marvelous week, whether you were in school like me, or simply enjoying your last days of summer. Nevertheless, I hope it was a good one!
I decided to go back to my roots in multiple ways today: my ootd post and my hair. What I mean by that is I decided to post today's outfit due to the many compliments it got, and that I dyed my hair back to its original color of brown! So the old Paloma is back for today's post!
The one special thing about my outfit today was that the total cost for everything I wore (minus the shoes) was under $50. My ring (the flea market find, $8), the shirt (free from my mom's closet), the shorts (flea market find, $10), the necklace (vintage store, $15), and the belt (free from my mom's closet). This outfit shows how you can look like a million dollars without having to spend more than $50. I feel like this is a really important thing for people to remember because often I'll look at blogs and wish that I had the money to spend on clothes that those blogger's have, but in reality, you don't need to spend a lot to get a lot! If you look at my last post, I have some strategic tips on how to shop with a small budget without missing out on cool items.
Now for the bonus: Since it's the end of summer or beginning or school (depends on who you are), a fun way to relax is to read a book! I've come up with my top five favorite books to read, and I thought I might share them all with you!
1. Growing Up Beautiful by Lori Jones- I find this book to just be perfect. Even though I just started reading it reminds me of a more grown up version of The Clique and Gossip Girl (minus the gossip).
2. Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky- This book perfectly describes the trials and tribulations of high school while also adding a little bit of sunshine to your day. A definite must-read and if you've seen the movie, Emma Watson is perfect so read it for her.
3. Nefertiti by Michelle Moran- I'm normally not a fan of history related stories but this book is just completely spellbinding and will leave you wanting more.
4. Forever Summer by Allison Noel- This book includes two stories (Laguna Cove and Cruel Summer) and both stories illustrate the type of summer you wish you could have. Full of romance and loss and adventure, it's an amazing way to end your summer (living vicariously through the characters).
5. Grace: a Memoir by Grace Coddington- If you've ever imagined a life in the fashion world, read this book. Just read it. Readddddd it.
That is all for today my lovely followers, and it is now time for me to get in my Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer costume and go celebrate my friend's 16th! (Happy Birthday Reilly)
Also- shout-out to Janessa who based her outfit today on one of my blog posts!
xoxo, Paloma
