What to Wear: Roadtrip Edition

There is one occasion in life that will always stump me when it comes to what I wear, and that occasion is a roadtrip. A roadtrip can be one of the most agonizing things that will ever occur unless you have plenty of food, phone chargers, movies, and of course, a comfortable yet chic outfit that will get you from point A to point B. No matter how many t-shirts or lulus I put on, I never seem to feel cute, or be comfortable on these long trips. Hopefully, I am not alone in my discomfort when it comes to this occasion, and so, considering all of this, today's post is a knight in shining armor. I come to you live from Southern California with a few looks that might help solve this crisis, along with some helpful tips and tidbits that will come to use in future times of "road-tripping".
The beautiful and long-legged Jordan was my model today, and with her help, I am able to bring a couple of chic/comfy/cool (C cubed) outfits.
1. Chic:
It is always a nice feeling to know that you look, not only put together, but chic as well. This is an exceedingly difficult thing to do when you know that you will be in a car for over two hours and that the only public places you will see are gas stations, and possibly, a hotel. Nevertheless it is important that you conquer the feeling of why put effort in and put effort in! After all, you can't expect to come across chic when you are wearing your pj's. For this reason, this outfit is the chic outfit. For this chic outfit, I paired together: a loose cardigan from Brandy Melville, a bright pink crop top, loose patterned shorts, and bright blue tiger slip-ons. With no makeup (yes natural is the best look for roadtrips) and hair worn down, Jordan is the face of chic roadtrips.
2. Comfy:
Now another important component when it comes to getting dressed for a roadtrip is comfort. Who wants to be stuck in a leather dress with seven inch heels when you're stuck in a cramped car for eight hours? Well not me that's for sure. So without forgoing chic, I introduce you to the item of the year: jumpsuit. And yes, there are many different types of jumpsuits but this one, well this one is golden. No not actually the color of gold but more it's a prized possession of mine. This outfit consists of a black stretchy jumpsuit from Topshop that could probably be made out of silk for all I know. I added a pair of gold gladiator sandals and boom pow! A comfortable AND chic look that will guarantee comfort on your tenth hour of sitting in a 8 by 10 foot box. (ignore the slight blurriness).
3. Cool:
Now that we have covered how to be chic and comfy, we are going to add the third C: cool. And no I don't mean cool in the sense of "yeah he's a pretty cool guy" but more in the sense of "warm and cool". There is nothing worse than deciding to wear long black pants in a car when the air conditioner breaks and the sun is burning through your pants onto your skin. Nothing. So to ensure that will never happen to you, or anyone you love, let me recommend this snazzy creation called....shorts. They ensure that you do not overheat, and if there is a little sun blaring down on you, at least you'll get a tan. I added a lovely tunic from Free People (chic) to these slightly loose cutoffs (cool) and topped it off with gold gladiator sandals (comfy). The combination of all three C's gives us this (slightly blurry) compilation of clothes.
Now as I stated earlier, I have a few tips for what you should go for and what you should avoid when it comes to what to wear on a road trip.
YAY: Things that won't wrinkle, lightweight/breezy, slip-on shoes, natural makeup/hair, loose shorts or pants, across the body bags.
NAY: Tight anything, jeans, body-con anything, sandals with more than two buckles, clunky boots that are hard to get on and off, short skirts, lace up anything.
Until Saturday!
xoxo, Paloma
