Rain in California?

Happy Saturday and I hope you are all enjoying your weekend thus far! While I am a little late with today's post, it is better late than never. Now you might notice that the title of today's post is a little ambiguous and strange but it will all be explained to you in a moment.
Today, two of my friends Julia and Rachel journeyed on over to my house to model for today's blog post ( they came slightly unannounced as I was cleaning my room) and when they arrived I hit a bit of "blogger's block". I had planned on doing a special post, considering this is my 100th post, but I literally had no idea what to make today's post about. So, as my own attempt to save today's post, I let Julia and Rachel decide. As the classic Californians, who always like the idea of rain, they decided to make today's post about rain. Or, more specifically, what to wear on a rainy day. This promptly gave me the idea to make fake rain (aka a hose). Now whether or not this was a good idea is still debatable, but either way it paved the way for a few cute (and funny) pictures.
For the first look, which was modeled by Rachel, I decided to take a simple approach by putting her in my three favorite basic pieces: jeans, black shirt, and leather jacket. Now, the jeans weren't normal jeans and neither was the leather jacket. To up the ante of my favorite basics, I put Rachel in half black/half blue denim jeans from Pacsun, and a green leather jacket from Heavenly Couture. The black top is a basic black shirt from Forever 21. To add another "rainy" aspect to the outfit, I added a pair of vintage boots from a local vintage store which could be considered heeled work boots. I put Rachel's hair in a fishtail braid, added my "Blair Waldorf" headband and voila! With a final touch of light pink lipstick, and of course an umbrella, the look was done.
Next, for Julia's look, I decided to take a slightly edgy approach. I started out by putting her in what would be considered a comfortable outfit of patterned black and white leggings and a crop top from Brandy Melville. I then added a black leather jacket from Free People that tied together both the top and the leggings. For her shoes I put her in my favorite boots from Topshop. Although these boots could be considered platform shoes, they are honestly the most comfortable boots I've ever worn and I do admit to wearing them almost every day. Finally I added a vintage necklace from my cousin and a burgundy hat from American Eagle. For her makeup, I gave her cat eye eyeliner and dark red lipstick to complement the hat. Once we added the mandatory umbrella, her outfit was complete!
I hope that you all enjoyed today's post, and hopefully, for those of you who actually get rain on a daily basis, you will get some inspiration from these outfits!
xoxo, Paloma
